How Do I Track This Event?
As you track a match, inevitably you will come across different scenarios that you may not know how to track. While it’s QuickTap’s aim to make things as intuitive as possible, this guide exists to eliminate ambiguity and give you as much confidence in your tracking as possible.
This page is a work in progress and is ongoing. If you want guidance on how to track an event you don’t see here, or if you think you’ve come up with a better way of doing something, please feel free to contact us through your Account Page.
All Live Kicks
All Kicks except for Try Conversions are live kicks. For kicks such as Goal Kicks, Drop Goals, and Kick Restarts, you want to make sure you are prepared in case the kick is unsuccessful and the ball remains live. For other kick types such as Open Play Kick and Kickoff 50/22/GL, you want to make sure you are prepared for the ensuing live play without losing too much time.
- Record the kick in question and click the location. When you click the location the video will start playing again.
- Regardless of kick type, move your index and ring fingers onto the V and C keys of your keyboard while the kick is still in the air.
- If the Defending Team Receives the ball, press V
- If the Kicking Team Recovers the ball, press C.
- Any other event such as Into Touch, Goal Kick Made, etc should be recorded by mouse-clicking the appropriate Event Button.
- In the case of kick Received/Recovered:
- The ensuing options will be different based on whether the ball was Received or Recovered.
- If Received, you will need to record a new Phase if one occurs. Our general rule is an attacking run or any pass counts as a Phase, but a few steps to either set up the next Open Play Kick or to brace for contact do not count as a Phase.
- If Recovered, this will be treated as an ongoing phase by the kicking team, and your options will be the same as your options during a Phase.
Open Play Kicks
Open Play Kicks happen fast. The best way to keep yourself from losing time is to make use of keyboard shortcuts.

- If Recovered, this will be treated as an extension of the Phase that preceded the kick, and your options will be the same as your options prior to the Open Play Kick was recorded.
